An Outdoor Refresher

Ahhhh, nature. The great outdoors. There’s something purely invigorating about being in the mountains and enjoying fresh air, pure sunshine & gorgeous views. This week on the blog we’re taking fashion cues from nature. It’s inspiring, it’s breathtaking and spending time connecting with nature recharges batteries and heals the soul.

My husband and I recently took a trip through Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. This trip was special because it was just the two of us. We hiked for miles together taking in all the beauty. It was the perfect escape. Both of these parks hold a special place in my heart. I grew up visiting Yellowstone every summer when I spent time at my Grandparent’s cabin in a small city about a half hour outside of the Yellowstone Park entrance. My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Jackson Hole and the Tetons. I have to say, when it comes to diversity and spectacular views these two parks do not disappoint.

Our favorite hike was in Yellowstone to a place called Fairy Falls. The falls were breathtaking and beyond that about a mile was a spectacular geyser that, to our delight, spurted and sprayed on and off every few minutes. Just next to that beauty were mud pots. I’ve always been intrigued by them because it’s not often you get to watch mud boil, especially on nature’s stove. I watched excitedly as a perfect grey-colored mud bubbled and popped incessantly.

Over the next 24 hours, we hiked to another waterfall and several lakes. Each had its own distinct beauty. Some views were rocky and rugged, others a delicious green. The wildflowers were showing off their bold colors: pinks, purples, and yellows. We captured some gorgeous views on video and in pictures.

We drank it all in and it recharged me. It gave me the energy I needed to carry on back at home. I could use another trip like that again now. It was a hard week saying goodbye to my little ones as they headed out the door for school!
